Pip Bryson’s work strives to capture a stillness; a moment caught between the peace and solitude found in the wide open spaces of our natural world and the inescapable anxieties of our times. In her current work, lone swimmers, often on the edge of land and water, are captured in oils; the pared-back composition and limited palette, often combined with layers of glazing, evoke an atmosphere of unease and slight foreboding.
